    Hi, after watching carefully the video, let me ask you for an advise. I want to make astrometry, take pictures of asteroides and send the data to the MPC. I am not sure if the Quattro 200/800 would be suitable, what is your opinion ? May be another type of scope would work better. Thank you for your suggestions. Clear skies.

    Can we do PPEC with the CQ350 and NINA? I'm also curious what you feel the best settings for guiding would be for this mount with a C11 and an OAG? I'm having a rough time getting consistent behavior even after 3-point align.

    • @SkyWatcherUSA
      @SkyWatcherUSA 8 днів тому

      The CQ350 does not have PPEC at this time. It is something we are pushing for however. PHD2 should be able to figure your guide settings for you. OAGs can be tricky due to the limited field of view.

      I would take a look at the Antlia TriBand RGB for overall backyard work and maybe a Antlia Ha/OIII dualband (high speed) for that set up. It might me worth giving Starizona a call and asking their recommendations as well. -Kevin

    Just a little tip from a guy who uses covers a lot of my mounts and leaves them outside. I use heavy cream colored BBQ covers off Amazon. First they reflect a lot of heat due to color and second they have a side vent which lets air circulate under the cover. Of course always dry off everything after a night of imaging if or when you can.

    Like! An off topic question. If I use for visual observations for example a Skywatcher 150/750 mm F5 achromat and a Skywatcher 120/900 mm APO, I understand that with the APO the Moon and planets will look 10x better and sharper but how about galaxies ? Will the galaxies look better in a high-quality 4.7 inch APO than in a 6 inch short F5 achromat ? (For visual observations only, not astrophotography). Also is the contrast on galaxies better in the APO than in the achromat ? Thank you!

    • @SkyWatcherUSA
      @SkyWatcherUSA 8 днів тому

      Apos do help focus all the colors to one point so they tend to be sharper, it is noticeable on brighter objects. When it comes to deep sky those differences will be much harder to see. One of the best views I have had of M51 was through a 120mm f/8.3 achromat refractor. Achromats have their uses and if you are looking for the best contrast per aperture a refractor is going to be the best as long as you can deal with the tube. For your use, an acro should be fine. -Kevin

      Hi SkyStory. We're not aware of any issues with the USB hub. The mount ships with a powered USB cable to take care of any distance issues (unless you're cabling this thing from your back yard , through the house, up the stairs, etc). A quick Google search hasn't brought any other potential issues to light. If you have a specific issue to ask about, email support@skywatcherusa.com. Alex will be happy to help you with any hiccups you may be experiencing.

    you guys really should add a manuel for people who masses their adjustmets even knowing what is what is almost imposible. I have no choice but mass up more or just give up my scope after alot of frustrating nights. I do not mind serching info for my hobies I even do with my free time but this become obligation and frustration. You have some manuels for newtonians why not put a extra one for this scope. I love the scope do not get me wrong but one misshap and you are done and can not even find info. I sould be rely the company not read endless pages about SkyWatcher 190 secondry miror. I am not trying to be rude or blame anyone but I thing there should be some info for people how their stuff works. This is why people just gets refractor and does not want to deal with any mirors. instead of just do not touch it you can give some info about funcunalty it is 53 minute video you guys have time. What about people who want to change focuser do you want them to send it to you or just sell the scope all together. I am sorry I am a bit frustrated about industry assumes eveyone expert at everything.

    Try learning the night sky in bortle 9, and you'll soon realize why a goto system is almost necessary. I just got a Skywatcher Dobsonian SynScan 10". Even this is kind of tough. Finding 3 stars for alignmen is hard. Going to darker skies is doable, but newbs, are going to find this a hassle at first. I've been looking at, and imaging the moon for 60 years. My first look with this dob, and included 10" eye piese took my breath away! WOW. Worth the price of admission. Can't wait to start really seeing the planets later this summer.

    Hi, can you say anything about Gen 3+ night vision tubes? I suspect they will be available in Europe as soon as the Ukrainian war is over, basically US equipment given to the Ukrainians.

    • @SkyWatcherUSA
      @SkyWatcherUSA Місяць тому

      We are not really sure what you want to know about them. Gen 3 nightvision has an ITAR restrictions which prevents them from being sent out of the country. Now the government can do what it wants obviously, especially when it comes down to conflicts. Gen 3 tubes are made elsewhere as well like ONVI for example. But current the law is if its a US made nightvision tube it stays within the country. That as much as we know.

    • @atiladudus3168

      There is a French company Ovni Night Vision that does this. They offer their service specifically for astronomical night vision devices. from 2200FOM to 2800FOM, Gen 3 unfoiled, white phosphor, no dark spots, with an even larger budget you can also get amplifier tubes in the milspec range, but the price is significantly higher than in the USA. At least they include all adapters, suitable plössl and panoptick eyepieces, filters and a lens for looking at the sky with your hand

    Hi, I have a Lunt 60 tilt solar telescope, but I am tired to use the slow motion I also want to concentrate to one thing without using the knobs. Question: will this work with the Lunt tilt for visual use? And is the little more expensive "second tripod" from skywatcher better for me? Thanks for the tip!

    • @SkyWatcherUSA

      The Lunt 60 only weights 7 pounds, so is well within the specs for the SolarQuest mount. You shouldn't need a second mount .

    Very late comment to the video .. I have an f5.9 Starwave 150mm scope . Apart from the beautiful red colour it has a massive rotatable focuser and some very nice glass. The lens is individually matched to the scope ( so the blurb says ) and whilst it shows colour on the bright objects ( no surprise) it’s actually very well corrected . I saw the Leo Triplet for the first time in this scope . It’s an amazing scope . I bought it from Altair Astro ( UK) . I use it on my SkyTee with a wooden tripod . Sitting behind the focuser of a 6”frac on a beautiful evening comes pretty close to being perfect . Thank you for this video regarding visual astronomy . There is far too much emphasis put on astrophotography these days which is a shame as side is really a completely different hobby ( yes they do merge in the middle ) . For me pure astronomy is visual . I , however love the photos that others produce ( after their camera has done most of the work … expecting hate comments now lol) .

    • @SkyWatcherUSA

    • @davepastern
      @davepastern 2 місяці тому

      @@SkyWatcherUSA it's not much better than my ZWO 1600mm pro - slightly more megapixels, slightly smaller pixel size and slightly higher FPS...both are also rolling shutter. Had hoped that there'd be a global shutter offering at the lower end of the market that's better matched to my Lunt 60 but it seems not. Oh well. Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
